This Creepy Thriller
Derrickson's contained scarefest remains effective despite the lack of a follow-up. Taking place in the late 70s in Denver, multiple disappearances has left the children on edge. Once Finney is taken by “the Grabber” and imprisoned in a cellar, he fears the worst. Yet the old telephone on the wall keeps ringing, with ghostly voices giving advice, and the intuitive nightmares of Gwen, his sister might rescue him. An effective horror. The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the struggle between faith and wealth, the winner is obvious for greed in this director's wonderfully garish biopic of the disgraced televangelist and her felon spouse. The actor acts as the greedy Jim, who states initially, asserting religious justification for riches. Both individuals set about monetising the nation's spiritual convictions. It's an extravaganza of tacky decor, excessive cosmetics and insincerity, though Chastain manages to present Tammy Faye with compassion. Next Tuesday, early morning, the Film4 channel
